Abandoned Reservoir Demolition Project Starts Jan. 26

Post Date:01/20/2026 10:27 AM

Work will begin on Jan. 26 to demolish the abandoned reservoir at 340 Lomita Street. This project involves demolishing the remaining concrete structure of an abandoned reservoir, capping any connected utilities, and leveling the remaining soil to blend with the surrounding park.

City of El Segundo contractor NoHo Constructors will work Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with expected project completion within 90 working days, weather permitting.

Temporary parking restrictions may be needed on Lomita Street, particularly near the reservoir driveway entrance near the northeast corner of Lomita Street and Grand Avenue. Any parking closures will be posted with "No Parking" signs at least 72 hours in advance. Emergency access will remain open at all times, and the City will make every effort to minimize disruptions to the neighborhood.

While typical construction noise and vibration may occur during project hours, no significant noise or vibration impacts to nearby residents or homes are anticipated. Noise and vibration levels are expected to remain within the limits set by the City’s municipal code.

The neighboring Hilltop Park, including the playground, should not be impacted by the construction, and is planned to remain open during the project.

Thank you for your patience as we begin this project.
