Playgrounds, aquatics facilities, recreation centers and sports fields remained closed to the public. Passive use of open space (including the Dog Park) is allowed, but please maintain physical distancing protocols. Tennis, paddle tennis and pickleball courts are open with advanced reservations only.  Lap swimming is also available at the El Segundo Wiseburn Aquatic Center with advanced reservation only. The Recreation & Parks Department is proud to offer the community of El Segundo high-quality parks and recreation facilities, community service programs, recreation classes, events and activities. The Department is versatile in its service delivery by performing tree and landscape maintenance; overseeing a 96-unit affordable senior housing complex; managing a nine-hole executive golf course and driving range; providing vital public transportation and offering valuable afterschool programs and enrichment opportunities for all ages and abilities. The dedicated workforce is composed of 21 full-time employees and more than 150 part-time and seasonal employees who are enthusiastic about enhancing the quality of life in El Segundo through the three main Department Divisions.

Administration Division

The Administration Division provides administrative support by managing the Department’s finance activities, including budget planning, contract management, and grants administration. The Division also provides oversight in open government procedures, identifies public needs and implements community problem-solving activities to ensure integrity in service delivery for the Department of Recreation and Parks.

Recreation Division

The Recreation Division provides opportunities for El Segundo residents of all ages to participate in a multitude of classes, programs, events and transportation services throughout its parks, fields, and facilities. The Recreation Division works in cooperation with residents, community groups and other City departments to continue to allocate and deliver superior services in a professional, proactive and cost-effective manner.

Parks Division

The Parks Division oversees the maintenance of over 65 acres of green space encompassing dozens of parks, athletic fields, medians and streetscapes. This includes management of the City’s approximately 6,000 trees and preparation of facilities for use by the public and Department programs. Additionally, the Division also provides support to multiple Department, City and community special events and activities throughout the year.
